Teacher Physically Fights Student For Being Late To Class (Photos/Video)
A teacher is under investigation after shocking video footage emerged showing him physically fighting with a student.
The English teacher, who works at a high school in Philadelphia, was filmed exchanging punches and kicks with the pupil (in black) as other students watch.
It is believed that the student was late to class, prompting an argument between the teacher and his pupil.According to a law enforcement source, the boy then assaulted the teacher and he called for security.
When he went to a neighbouring classroom to find support from another colleague, he was again confronted in the corridor, which is allegedly when the fight broke out.
One student told 6 ABC News: "So he [the student] pushed him and [the teacher] pushed him back and then the kid just swung on him."
The tutor suffered an injury that required stitches after the incident. His name is not being released by the media as he has not been charged over the fight.
The student has been charged with assault but remains anonymous for legal reasons.Lee Whack, of the School District of Philadelphia, said an investigation is taking place: "Our goal is to get to the bottom of this and make sure it does not happen in the future."
