Five Wanted Cultists Held With Stolen Car


Policemen in Ogun State have arrested five members of the Eiye Confraternity, who have been on the wanted list.

The suspects were arrested at Ijoko area of Ota with a suspected stolen car, a parcel of weeds suspected to be cannabis and assorted charms.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed this in a statement, said the suspects had confessed their membership of the secret cult terrorising Ota and its environs. Oyeyemi gave the names of the suspects as Segun Owolabi, Sunday Alaba, Abonode Samson, Olalekan Adeyemi and Samson Udoribang.

He said: “The suspects were arrested when policemen attached to Sango Ota Division led by their DPO, SP Akinsola Ogunwale, were carrying out raid on criminals’ hideout and black spots around Ijoko area of Ota. “Recovered from them is a Toyota Camry car with registration number Lagos JW 857 AAA suspected to be a stolen one, parcel of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted charms.”

The PPRO added that the Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, had already directed that the suspects be thoroughly investigated and charged accordingly.
