It’s Too Early To Celebrate - Gernot Rohr
Super Eagles’ Manager, Gernot Rohr, has said that Nigerians should continue to support the new look Super Eagles rather than over celebrate the victory recorded in one match.
Rohr said that the celebrations should be put on hold as there are still more matches to play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying race. He spoke at the post match press conference, after the Super Eagles whipped Algeria’s Fennecs 3-1 on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. Rohr said:
“We played a good match and got three points, but I want to say that there are more matches to play and we have to keep our focus. “Let me emphasis that we have won nothing and no celebration yet.”
The Super Eagles remain on top of Group B with six points, Cameroon have two points while Algeria and Zambia have one point each. “We have a friendly against Egypt in Dubai in January, which will enable me to look at the home –based players, but I will continue to monitor the Europe– based players and we will see how we get matches for them on FIFA free days.”
The victory over Algeria gave Rohr a record of three wins out of three matches. The German signed for Nigeria in August. “I praise the players for their spirit, for their dedication and for their discipline.
They all did very well and I am happy at their output,” he added.
