Moses, Iheanacho Swoop On Algeria

The Nigeria, Algeria match slated for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo this evening is a big match by all standards. Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani are top players in the Foxes who are well known to Nigerians because they play for Leicester City in the English Premier League.

Super Eagles’ Manager, Gernot Rohr, is aware of the danger the two players can pose to the Eagles but the German is more concerned about the Eagles getting the result.

At the news conference on Thursday in Uyo, Rohr said he was confident the Eagles would get the desired result in the Russia 2018 qualifier. “We are playing at home, we are sure we will get the result.

The team is getting better and now with Moses (Victor), we are having more options to do well. I saw him play in Chelsea and I was glad he is one of us. “The young ones – Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi – bring additional advantage to the team. I also have Etebo, very strong in the middle.

We are ready,” Rohr said. Iheanacho and Moses have been particularly impressive for Manchester City and Chelsea this term. Chelsea coach has so much faith in Moses such that he is now a first team player.

He has been consistent for the Blues, and manager Antonio Conte has showered praises on him for his brilliant show. “Moses has energy and he has been playing his role well. He is a big influence in the team,” Conte said in one of his remarks on Moses.

Nigerians will expect Moses to bring his liveliness to bear in Uyo this evening while the consistency of Iheanacho who has scored in the last four games for the Eagles will be expected to continue.

Eagles need the maximum points to puncture the capacity of Algeria to be a threat in Group B since a win will give Nigeria six points and Algeria will remain on one point.

Captain Mikel Obi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Ogenyi Onazi will also need to work hard to boost Ihenacho and Moses to deliver the goals for Nigeria in this crucial encounter.
