Herdsmen Kill Journalist’s Father In Ogun Farm

Suspected Fulani herdsmen yesterday murdered a 76-year-old farmer, Pa Moses Omifenwa, at a farm settlement at Ado-Odo in Ado-Odo Local Government Area of Ogun State. The deceased is the father of Ogun State correspondent of Global News Magazine, Jide Omifenwa.

It was learnt that the septuagenarian was clubbed to death by the suspected assailants, who immediately fled after committing the dastardly act. Confirming the incident, Jide said on the telephone that the Fulani herdsmen struck about 1:30p.m. when his father had gone into the farm settlement.

The bereaved journalist disclosed that he reported the matter at the Ado-Odo Police Station.

He said: “But after some minutes, we observed that he was yet to return. We immediately went into the farm only to meet his body on the ground. I quickly ran to the police station and the police came and said we should get medical personnel to examine him. “We got a doctor who confirmed him dead and discovered that he was hit with a big stick.

He did not recover from the attack. “The presence of the herdsmen has been a source of worry to farmers in the area. Anytime they storm farms, their cattle usually destroy the produce. This is a big blow to my family and the entire Ado-Odo farms.”
