Boko Haram Kills Army Officer, 3 Soldiers


There are strong indications, that a Captain of the Nigerian Army, and three soldiers of the 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, have been killed in a surprise attack by suspected Boko Haram elements.
The attack, which occurred on Saturday, was confirmed by the Brigade’s spokesman, Lt. George Okupe.

In a text message to newsmen, Okupe disclosed that the attack was successfully repelled, even as he added that many of the gunmen were killed during the fierce encounter.
He said troops were after the fleeing invaders, who sustained gunshot wounds.
“Buni Yadi came under attack at about 0615pm…but things are under control. Casualty figure of BHTs yet to be confirmed, on locales, none for now likewise own forces.
“However, details will be relayed to you soon,” Okupe said.
Though, the Brigade’s spokesman insisted that no casualty was recorded, a military source told New Telegraph, that an officer and three of his men, were killed in the fire fight.
The source, who spoke in confidence, said the suspected insurgents, in their large numbers, struck from the eastern flank of the military formation.
He noted that the dead Captain, who was a medical doctor, had just been posted to the Brigade.
