Ohanaeze Ndigbo Elects New Leaders Today

Ahead of Today’s election of the national executive of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, has asked the Igbo socio-cultural organisation to elect charismatic leaders.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is a socio-cultural organisation with little political inclination. Since people like Dozie Ikedife and Justice Eze Ozobu left the leadership of the organisation, there has been a yawning gap in the association.

“I enjoin them to get it right now. That is how the Igbo can get a voice in national discourse. The organisation needs to redeem its image now,” Ngige gave the advice in an interview with Punch.

For the President-General zoned to Enugu State, a former Minister of Information, Barr Nnia Nwodo; and a former Chief of Naval staff, Admiral Allison Madueke, are leading contenders.

Other candidates are Chief Enechi Onyia, SAN, Chief Mike Ajogwu, SAN, and a former Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University, Prof. Chinweite Ejike.
