White Cop Gets 10-Day Suspension For Slamming Black Woman & Daughter To The Ground

The white Texas police officer who slammed a black woman to the ground and arrested two of her daughters last month will not lose his job for his actions, officials said on Monday.

Officer William Martin has been suspended for 10 days without pay for his actions during the incident with Jacqueline Craig and her family, the Fort Worth Police Department announced.

Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald called Martin's suspension a "significant punishment," the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

"The buck stops here," Fitzgerald, who is the police department's first black chief, said, of the officer's negligence, noting that some members of his staff thought the 10-day suspension was too harsh. The officer will also undergo training before he returns to his duties, the newspaper reported.
NY Daily reports, people across the country have called for Martin's dismissal after the Dec. 21 incident, which was captured on video by Craig's 19-year-old daughter Brea Hymond.

The incident was precipitated when Martin responded to Craig's call of a neighbor choking her 7-year-old son.
