70 Deeper Life Members Escape Death

About 70 members of the Deeper Life Bible Church yesterday escaped death when a luxury bus conveying them back from camp developed a fault and went up in flames.

Motorists, pedestrians and other sympathisers at Otedola Bridge area of Lagos- Ibadan Expressway joined the worshipers to praise God for preserving their lives.

It was learnt that the worshippers were returning from the fourday ‘Easter Retreat’ at the Deeper Life Bible Church Camp located at Olowotedo area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when the bus conveying different families suddenly caught fire.

When the driver discovered smoke coming from the engine, he hurriedly pulled over and parked the bus. Immediately the passengers saw the smoke, they started jumping through the windows and other exits to escape being caught in the fire.

The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Tiamiyu Adesina, who confirmed the incident, said no casualty was recorded. He added that those who sustained injuries had been taken care of by the emergency responders. According to him, the incident was caused by a fault in the engine.

The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said the fire was successfully managed. He added that the agency recorded over 14 fire cases from Friday till yesterday. Fadipe said no life was lost in the fire incidents.

He called on Lagos residents to be safety conscious always.
