Ondo Sensitises Health Workers On Meningitis

Ondo State government yesterday commenced the sensitisation of its health workers following the outbreak of cerebrospinal meningitis in neighbouring states even as more than 600 deaths had been recorded across 22 states of the federation.

The sensitisation exercise came as a resolve of the state’s Emergency Response Team, which swung into action immediately the epidemic was reported in the country few weeks ago Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Health, Dr. Taye Oni, said the sensitisation of health workers on how to handle the disease was one of the proactive measures taken by the state to protect its workers as they were at risk.

Oni said the exercise, which started with the state Specialist Hospital, Akure, would be replicated in other hospitals, departments, units and the Ministry of Health. He charged workers to be alive to their duties and replicate the information received even for their patients and neighbours
