Police Arrest Husband For Chaining Wife To Generator All Night

What kind of thing is this? The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 37yrs old man, Ifeanyi Ajaero, for chaining his 28-year-old wife, Obiageli, to a generator.

Ajaero had allegedly chained his wife to the generator on Friday night to Saturday morning.

Apart from chaining Obiageli to the generator, the suspect was also accused of battering her.

The state Police PRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the incident happened at Ewooluwo, in Sagamu.

Police said the husband, who's a member of the disbanded merchant navy, used a handcuff to chain his wife to the generator.

Oyeyemi said Ajaero’s neighbours, who had witnessed his frequent beating of the woman, alerted the police to the incident.

He said the Divisional Police Officer of the command in Sagamu, Aduroja Moses, led his men to the scene, rescued the victim and arrested the husband.

Oyeyemi said that the suspect admitted chaining the woman to the generator, but claimed that his action was in “self-defence.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, added that the case had been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the state Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
