Police Arrest Teenager Bag Snatcher With Aid Of CCTV

A teenager, Emmanuel Alowonle, has been captured by the newly deployed mobile Close Circuit Television (CCTV) while allegedly picking the handbag of a victim at Oshodi area of Lagos State. Alowonle was arrested in Oshodi while the mobile CCTV was just being deployed to monitor the area.

The suspect said that he came to Lagos about two years ago and had been working as a bus conductor. Alowonle was arrested after stealing from a commuter’s handbag on the pedestrian walkway.

The mobile CCTV camera was parading Oshodi when it sighted Alowonle in the crowd picking from a passer-by’s handbag. The newly deployed mobile CCTV camera is procured by the Lagos State government for operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

The CCTV camera is jointly managed and put into use by both the RRS operatives and technical assistance by the Lagos State Response Unit (LRU). The emergency management department of the Lagos State government handled the technical knowhow of the camera, while men of the RRS took charge of the security aspect.
