Olusegun Mimiko Aides Resign, Join APC

The crisis over the authentic candidature of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is taking its toll on the party as two members of the party; Mr Ojo Victor and Mrs Aderonke Oladun dumped the party for the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).

The duo were Special Assistants to Governor Olusegun Mimiko on Political and Mobilisation matters. They resigned from office to join the APC in the state.
There have been disputes between Ahmed Markafi and Ali Modu Sheriff factions in the state over who is the flag bearer of the PDP in the state. While Markafi’s group produced Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as candidate, Sheriff presented Mr Jimoh Ibrahim as his own candidate.
Many of the PDP members, who were not comfortable with the emergence of Ibrahim as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognised candidate, have been fraternizing with opposition political parties ahead of the November 26 governorship election in the state.
But the State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Special Duties, Hon. Femi Adekanmbi had already appealed to members of the Ahmed Markafi faction of the party not to defect to all any political party ahead of the November 26, governorship election.
